Brocklebank staff still extant

Noting all the names that have featured on the site through diverse postings I wonder if it would be a good idea to try and make a list of all these that have crossed our past as a record of a era long gone and never to be repeated and in homage to our revered Brocklebank company.
Whilst not completely inclusive it would hopefully make a record of many who in some way helped to sustain the company's image.
Given the current age and length of our greybeards now and stiffness of our joints it would probably be appropriate to use as a starting point around 1955-56 when we were all bright and bushy tailed.
Any ideas?
jim

A very good idea indeed Jim, I would most certainly be in it having started with Brock's in 1955. Maybe we should organize a Format are we open for ideas ??

Count me in. How about a simple information form, promoted on the SN site,to give brief details of those wishing to be included in the "register".

I did not sail with Brocklebank, at sea with Shaw Savill and ashore with BI was my life. I am interested in the employment of ethnic minority seamen. Indians, Africans, Chinese and Caribbeans were employed on various trades and apart from a website on Lascars there appears to be litle in print, or on the web. I believe that Brocklebanks , like Ellermans , P & O and others had such seamen. I would be pleased to hear from you about anything on your company practice. BI has a reunion in the autumn when we hope to summerise that company's experience. Not just the names of their ranks but company practice over recruitment and employment. I am not sure how we can ensure that this essential element in maritine history is recorded but we should make some notes before our memories go

thank you for your attention

Possible use this line for comments ??????????????????

In the space where our name & data appears insert a photo of a Brock ship, personally I would like to see the shot of the Maskeliya taken in the Clyde its a very good photo of a typical Brock steamer and would suite the space available, plus of course Jim's heading. The photo of the Maskeliya is in the gallery
Just simple and basic, your comment's please gentlemen//

I must have missed this thread originally. Count me in as well. I am even more of a boy than Don Macleod, 1964 to 1970 with Brock's for me.

Jim
Just found this site and thread - was apprentice via Birkenhead in 69 then through various phases until I fell out with Head Office - Trafalgar House at that time.
Tokk Markhor to final hand over to Federal holdings ( Karachi) but handed over in Rotterdam.
Spent a little time on various other Cunard entities including the Salen fruit boats and the mighty Oily Boily under Nigerian ownership. Finally moved to Scottish Ship Mangement and after some bad news at home started in the North Sea on achor handlers. Finally as share fisherman(eng) for last few years working out of Mallaig until vessel (Silvery Sea) run down going in to Esbjerg. It was my trip off ( summer fishing for sand eels) and petticoat government insisted on a final move ashore.
Would be good to catch up if you could point me in the way of the form/format filling page.
Rgds

1961-75. However I was "posted" to ACL in 1970-75 but still, presumably, under Brock's. Salaams, Phil
