ex Elder Dempster

Just came across my Discharge Book and googled (SS Chandler) the first boat I went to sea on back in 59) .Along the way came across your site and decided to say G'day also wondered does anybody remember those old Liberty Boats .

Welcome 8Bells. Did a trip on an old Liberty Boat called Anthony back in 1961 when it was under Greek control. One trip was enough. Also did a few with Elder Dempster (Ocean Fleets ) back in the 70s.

Hello Boyo,

Born and bred in Swansea, entered MN, with Shaw Savill, served on Doric, Dominion Monarch, Warangi, Taranaki, Gothic, Waiwera, Suevic, as Elect.Engr. Then joined British Phosphate Commission, served on Triaster, Triadic, 1955/59. Settled ashore in Melbourne, Australia, 1959, and still here, Cymru am Byth, Iechyd Dda. Terence Williams. R538301.

Did only one sea trip as well,had nightmares when they showed me how you had to take the bearing temperatures on a Triple Expansion Steam engine !!
I was on the MV Obuasi very interesting trip to the States with the cadet crew . Can't ever remember coming across the Degema.
