Jet Harris Bass Player for the Shadows

A wee bit before my time, but I know a lot of you guys on here liked
the Shadows.
I guess he's gone to the "big band in the sky"
I remember seeng these guys when I was a young kid 8 or 9, great
instrumentals and seeing him play with Tony Meehan as a double act.

all the best

Johnny, yes I think jet was at Twin Towns a couple of times, but I never saw him. I'm gonna tell you a story ... I have seen Max Bygraves there a couple of times.

Attention Everton fans, cover your eyes: Gerry and his Pacemaker was here at Kedron Wavell RSL last Friday.

I saw the Shadows at Hull one time, can't remember if Jet was with them or not, I've got an idea he pulled out of the group. I'm not mad about instrumentals and left early because I got a better offer.

John T.

PS RIP Jet.

I always wondered why Jet harris was never invited to play again with The Shadows. I have an idea there was some bad blood between Jet and Cliff ( A woman was envolved whether it was Jet's wife or girlfriend I'm not sure). Tony Meehan died many years ago, I always thought that he was the best drummer they ever had. To be honest when Jet and Tony left the Shadows I lost interest in the Shadows and Cliff. The original band was brilliant. I remember buying an EP of Cliff and the Shadows in South Africa, I was at Simonstown at the time. Oh how I wish I still had it. It might be worth a bit now.

Old Strawberry, I just found a website that says Harris fell out with Richard when the latter had an affair with Harris's wife. That must have been a bit surprise to everyone, I'd have thought.

Yep, the daft things We do when We are younger. I gave all my 45's away to my Brother and all my LPs away to local friend back in 70's. Yet at the moment out in my shed I have two boxes of LPs about 200 or so and nobodys interested unfortunately none of 'em are the original pressings, I'll probably end up dumping them into a charity shop. I have 50 odd of Frank Sinatra but there is no interest. Mind you I suppose it's whether or not you like Frank Sinatra(I do). Going back to The shadows they were great but only the original line up, something was lost when Jet and Tony left. That EP I had was when they were on tour in South Africa I think Mickey Most was on the same tour but He wasn't on the EP (Thankfully).

Cliff having sex with a woman? Away, man! That can't be right (although Wikipedia says it is). Wasn't he shacked up with Frank Ifield for a while? You know these Aussies, they're into everything.. Anyway, R.I.P. Jet.

Spot on Hughesy, Jets wife was safe from the" Bachelor Boy".
But nobody has mentioned the passing of Johnny Preston who sang
Running Bear, and Rockabye Baby. Just two weeks ago.
