Amethyst (3000 ts) was a third-class protected cruiser launched on Nov. 5th, 1903 by Armstrong-Whitworth Naval Works, Elswick, hull-number 735 and completed in March 1905.
Once WW 1 broke out HMS Amethyst was assigned to the Harwich Force and took part in the Battle of Heligoland Bight on Aug. 28th
