Thought RMAS was best location for this image of an odd shaped anchor outside Portsmouth naval base. What type is it and in what cir***stances would it be used? i suspect the RMAS handled a few?

Found this anchor last week, in the St. Clair River in Port Huron Michigan, how would this shank break off? Is it from getting twisted in the hawsepipe, or the ship turning the in the strong current as the anchor is dropped, and the ships weight is put on the shank? We have found 6 this Summer that
Found this old wood crossarm anchor in the St. Clair River (Michigan) today. It was covered in zebra mucsels.This one might go in my yard after a good clean up.
