    A closer view of the British Seafarer. Built in 1951 by R & W Hawthorn Leslie & Co she was 11,220 gr tons and a real looker. Is it significant that the figurehead at the RNR establishment has turned her back on the river?

    Copy of a page from my old Work Book showing the first 3 months on the British Seafarer running UK - NW Europe. Plenty of ports and work, luckily we carried an extra 2nd Mate and a couple of Apprentices. Apologies for the poor quality.

    Discharging somewhere in Denmark late spring/early summer 1969. One of BP's earlier 16's built, I think, by Swan Hunter in 1951. Great ship, spent 6 months as 3rd Mate running UK-NW Europe coast with extra 2nd Mate to ease the work load. Did a lot of trips in and out of the Isle of Grain where...
