According to what I read somewhere on the web, Lisbon was the third port she visited the most, the first and second being respectively Southampton and New York. She berthed in Lisbon over 500 times during her 40 years career.

Early arrival of QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 to the portuguese capital on August 14th 2008, helped by three tugboats (although only two are visible on this photo). She was one of the first passenger vessels I photographed in Lisbon, first time on October 2nd 2005, but she has visited my hometown for many year
A close look to her bridge. The sun had just rise above the horizon and, although being summer, it was a cold morning! Thankfully, it warmed up during the day...

Finally I saw her portside! :D
5am and there I was by the river front waiting her and ROYAL PRINCESS, who only showed up around 7am (RP arrived about 45 to 50 min later while QE2 arrived just on time (Thumb)).
More photos to come soon. Three calls to go before departing permanently to Dubai.

Believe or not, for three years I've photographed the vessels that call Lisbon and I still have not seen her port side... She'll call Lisbon 4 times before depart to Dubai. Better luck next time, I hope...

Along with CELEBRITY SUMMIT (which made her maiden call in Lisbon today... photos will follow tomorrow... or after), ISLAND SKY and ARTEMIS, the beautiful QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 called Lisbon again.
On the final countdown for her retirement, she left Lisbon under a beautiful sun and clean atmosphere.

QUEEN ELIZABETH 2's Port Side as seen... from shore.
Please notice the sea fog in mid river. You couldn't see the other side. This is a very unusual but beautiful thing. It seemed like a fog river flowing to the sea and the 25th of April Bridge seemed cut in half, as if it leaded to nowhere...
Once again, QUEEN ELIZABETH calling Lisbon.
I still haven't photographed her port side...

This was taken on the first day I spotted her, back to October 2005.
For a long time, I thought she was the first cruise ship I photographed, but after checking my backups I found that rank belong to ASTOR, photographed on September 29th 2005...
