9142 R VULCANIA Motonave Trieste Ediz. A. Cadel. Trieste Fotocelere Torino The MS Vulcania was an Italian ocean liner built by Cantiere Navale Triestino, Monfalcone, northern Italy, in 1926 for the Italian company, Cosulich Line. Sunk on way to scrappers, 1974.
The caption to this book ilustration by HJohn Wolcott Adams is ''The Pennsylvania Railroad lent its credit to build four Ocean liners.'' So the bigblack-hulled steamer should be on its way to Liverpool, and be named either Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana or Illinois.

Since they indicate: "No known restrictions on publication" I assume that the photo is now on public domain.
Can anyone provide more details on the ship?
