Just found this site, and read a few of the comments, I joined the Burmah Cameo in Curacao in 1974 and did a very enjoyable 9 months (hard going but plenty time ashore), Sad time when we lost the first mate when tank cleaning, I also served on the Burmah Peritod did the first dry dock in Japan, and then joined the Severn Bridge, Left Denholms then and joined Turner Diesel in Glasgow and did a few more trips with various shipping lines.

My musical recollection of Hamburg is going to the Hauptkiche for an organ recital by Helmut Walcha. He played early German organ music for well over an hour.
Oh and he's been blind since he was 19 in 1946.

Hi George,

I joined the Burmah Cameo as Junior Engineer on 12th July 1974 under the bridge at San Francisco and we proceeded to a place called Martinez to discharge. We then proceeded to sea for tank cleaning and then went to Portland Oregon for a deep tank clean prior to taking a grain cargo to Inchon, South Korea. It looks like you may have been on board part of the time I was there.

Hi Again George,

Willie Woods must have been relieved in San Francisco as an electrician Conrad somebody joined with me. I think the Chiefs name was Gerry Good, he was relieved by the JCE who was from Dundee, can't remember his name.

Ah , wee Jock McVicar , another member of the Gourock navy. Had the
pleasure of sailing with him on many occasions most noteably on the Jersey Bridge in 1970 . We used to play table tennis nearly every evening and it was Gourock v the world. Great days. As of last december still going strong , get an x-mas card every year from him.
