Arcadia II
Hi there, I worked in the printer's shop on the Arcadia during the year 1959-60, Australian trips, Mediterranean cruise and New York, Bermuda cruise. After this I did the same job on board the R.M.S. Strathmore for a year. Now retired and living in Canada.

As an ex P&O engineer I would be extremely interested in one, but later on today I am off to China so I will try and pick up this thread when I come back.

Hi Steve,
Lovely picture, thats when ships used to look like ships, today's ships look like big floating casinos, thats what they are. the romance of the sea has gone down the tubes, gone is that nautical look the ships had in the 50s and 60s.
Sadly,
Neil Mac

Nice to see my old ship, my home from 1973 to 1975(except for leave of course)I was so lucky because I had the entire after end of C Deck where my Crew & Isolation hospital was. We worked bloody hard of course on call 24 hours a day often for 8 months at a time, but it was nice to sit on my own deck port or starboard(my cabin opened onto the deck starboard side) or aft when I had time. Today, you pay an arm and a leg for a private balcony which is not very big, but I had the entire after end of the ship AND got paid for it?!!. David

I might have been the last person to 'dip the flag' to this old girl when She left Auckland for the last time prior to Her departure to the breakers. I was on Somerset anchored off, Oct'78?
