Can anyone give me details of Benvannoch which my father served on 1942-1943 Iain

Built at J.L.Thompson and Sons Ltd-Sunderland

Hi Iain,
Benvannoch (3) 1921 ex- Dakarian, 1939 purchased from T & J. Harrison, Liverpool renamed Benvannoch, 1946 sold to Andrew Weir & Co, London renamed Birchbank. 6,427 Grt.

Was it Kaoshuing ???
I was on the old Ben Lawers when they did that and the Captain said "I have never run a vessel aground,or intend to" you do it ". It was a terrible feeling no matter what you say but she did 19 knots The Engineers gave her everything she had without the boilers blowing up!!!

PS . The Chippy on board Harry Nutten served 25 years on that vessel before joining the twin funnelled Bencruachan

i joined the benvannoch in newcastle on 19/6/53.
paid of at london, victoria dock. 11/1153. captain j.c.allan. mate was donnely. o.n. 180139 n.h.p.509. g.t. 7078. n.t. 4069.
on the coast after that with benlomond.dec. 1953
o.n. 167859. n.t. 4282. g.t. 7141. i.h.p. 2500.
