Bernard Hepton 19/10/1925 - 27/07/2018.
Another great actor of the old school. Colditz---Secret Army-- and my favourite's John le Carre's Tinker, Tailor, Spy And Smiley's People as Toby Esterhase. R.I.P.

RIP Bernard Hepton, I loved him as the kind hearted German Colonel who appeared to hate the SS as much as we did in the BBC's 70's series, Colditz. A great character actor and a face on British TV who popped up on a regular basis.

Would agree there Bill . Even when reading the books , one sees Bernard Hepton's face when Esterhaze is mentioned.

Agree with all of the above. He could make the character he was portraying completely believable. I loved his role in Smiley's People as the dodgy fine art dealer.

R.I.P.
