Not many left after 1991 - 1992 I would say.
My last Blue Star vessel was in '91 ACT V which always carried Barbados crew, but by then the reefers had started to flag out and replace the British lads.

I knew a guy who got a job on these reefers,He said Blue Star only crewed these ships and nothing else and the only reason there were Brits on board was because it was in the charter agreement that European crews were to be used, as soon as the charters finished ....18 month 2 year the Brits were gone.

bit of a typo there pat,not built as blue star ships but the company started to bring ships in, as vesty no longer wanted to build after the paddy wagons were done in the 80s.ie napier, lyttleton, santos and santiago star all from other companies and proved sucessfull on the whole, and unlike a lot of the older blue star vessels no bloody m.a.n main engines thank god!

I was looking through the link provided to the Blue Star Line website and browsing the crew lists and it would seem that most/all of the ships had British crew, or West Indies crew with British Isles surnames until 1991, at which point the entire fleet had Filipino ratings with the exception of Argentina Star, which still had a full or mostly list of British sounding names in all ranks. Anyone know why this one ship didn't go Filipino like the rest of them?
