I am sure some of you sailed with Gerry Cooper back in 1970-80's.
He is now on his own ocean going yatch with his wife and the ships cat Priss, sailing from Florida to Australia over the next 2 years.
You can follow his travels on Sail blog.

Drop him a line if you sailed with him.
His wife looks after the blogs and writes quite amusing entries.

Gerry & Spouse are quarantined like us all, but they are in the US Virgin (Gerry is trying to look for them, but stopped by Spouse) Islands, could be worse places, no shortage of toilet rolls there apparantly.

A 30' yatch, no garden to walk in, it might be idylic but even that can get old after a while. Gerry is doing a bit of tweaking, but there is a limit after a long time. They have a buddy sailer, a catamaran, so he helps with tweaking there just to keep sane.

Look on the BSL logbook at photos of the yatch under Coopers Quest.

Happy to report that Gerry & Spouse after a 10 day or so voyage from Fiji to Brisbane had to go into a quarentine hotel/ prison despite being double vaccinated, negative Covid test on leaving Fiji and being isolated on the yatch.
It wasn't very pleasant for them and there were a few facetious comments/ thoughts about the jobsworthies running the show. Cold brown bag meals, 4 lots of PCR tests etc. The saving grace was they could catch up on sleep, plan things for the boat by email and have a few drinks. Their conditions were worse than if it was a prison in some respects.

Now they are back home and even experienced snow on their solar panels of their house in Tasmania. The yatch will be going up for sale (they have hung up their sailing hats now).
So all's well that ends well.
