Carnival Corporation has today announced its results for the year ending 30 November 2005. Total revenue is up 14.4% from $9.7 billion to $11.1 billion. Net profit is up 21% from $1.9 billion to $2.3 billion.
During 2005 the Group’s 79 cruise ships, operating in 12 individual brands, carried a total of 6.8 million passengers. Average passenger loading for the fleet was 105.6% of lower berth capacity. This is up from 104.5% last year.
The other two major cruise operators, Royal Caribbean and Star, both have financial years ending on 31 December. Royal Caribbean are expected to produce profits that are about half those of Carnival. Star is expected to break even.
