Now here's a possibility for that mystery ship. Here's a picture of the WAMBIRI of the State Shipping Service (West Australia). Used to trade from Fremantle to North-west Australian ports.
She is the ex-Cunard PARTHIA of 1963.
I joined Parthia as third mate in May 1971 when she was laid up in Falmouth. Took her up to Middlesbrough where she was dry-docked and renamed StaShip I. Then took her out to Hong Kong where she was handed over to her new Australian owners in July 1971. The old man was Eddie Watkins, Mate Phil Owen, 2nd Mate Alex Reid. Paul Hancock 4th Engineer, Alex Straus Electrician. The others are a blank at the mo.

Centaur Nostalgia

Thought you might like a look at this? It's an original welcome aboard booklet from the Centaur, it's got eight pages with information about the vessel, with plenty of do's and don'ts. It was lent to me by a neighbour who sailed on her as a passenger in the 1960's, Regards Tony (*))
