The 1949-built City of Perth was sold in 1967 to Greek owners and renamed Elenif.
Also, the 1956-built City of Wellington was sold in 1978 and renamed Eastern Enterprise.

I am looking for information for any further info on their fate.
Can anyone help?

City of Perth - City of Wellington

City of Perth built by Caledon, Dundee. On first voyage as Eleni F struck a submerged wreck near Alexandria on 3rd Jan 1968. Beached and Broke in two.
City of Wellington built by Cammel Laird. As Eastern Enterprise survived only from late 1978 until early 1979 when she was broken up at Kaohsiung.

Thanks Jim, for your quick reply! A sad end for the City of Perth, anyway the oil crisis would have killed her in a few years.

You are quite correct that the oil crisis of early 1970's had a devastating effect on steam turbine ships and yet some of City of Perth's sisters remained with Ellermans until mid 70's and then had another couple of years under foreign flags. [City of Oxford sold 1976 b/u 1978, City of Ottowa/Leeds
Sold 1975 b/u late 1977.
City of Wellington was one of her class of motorships that did not get a brief respite by being bought by Ben Line.
City of Colombo became Benmhor in 1977, b/u 1979. City of Ripon became Benvannoch in 1978 b/u 1979. City of Winnipeg became Benedin in 1968 returned to Ellermans as City of Delhi in 1970. Sold again in 1976 she was b/u in 1980.

Certainly looks like her - One of the large "City of Oxford Class".
Picture shows her without the "stove pipe" extension to her funnel that was later fitted to ships of the class and some other of Ellerman's turbine steamers

I agree, she is one of the ten ships of this class but hard to tell which one.
Jim S, you are right, the turbine Cities that were sold for further trading in the 70's lasted for just a few years more.
To add to your list:
City of Karachi (1951) sold 1972, scrapped 1974
City of Manchester (1950) sold 1971, scrapped same year
City of Singapore (1951) sold 1975, scrapped 1977

Also sold a little earler -in 1967- were the City of New York (renamed Kavo Matapas) and the Maltasian (renamed Capetan Christos P.) but I don't know of their final fate. Jim S. maybe you can help?

City of New York as Kavo Matapas was broken up at Kaohsiung in 1969
As far as I can determine Maltasian ( that was City of Hull for a while around 1964) had a further change of name after Capetan Christos (Panama) to Aias (Greece) - broken up (unknown) in 1975.

Ellerman Line

Thanks Jim S for filling in those blanks.
As you are interested in Ellerman ships, a book that might interest you is - "Ellerman Lines" by John Clarkson and Roy Fenton from their "Ships in Focus" series. An interesting book featuring good photographs and concise descriptions of a fair representation of the Ellerman fleet from around 1900 to 1976.

I was on the Wellington in '76. She was in excellent condition then; seems unfortunate that she was being broken up only 3 years later.
