Flintshire's were painted every voyage and "Everyone" going below plates would take off their engineroom boots and leave them on the plates.Glen Line’s FLINTSHIRE (62/11926) at her berth in the King George V dock in London on the 27th July 1969.
The Blue Funnel vessels that I sailed on had either Gloss White or Gloss Light Grey tank tops! They were also kept in tip top condition. We also installed high pressure jet washers, pricipally for the plate coolers but the were great for removing all the old paint prior to repainting. Engines were eggshell blue-green. All the valve tags were also cleaned and polished (one at a time!!!)How many ships had 'Gloss white tank tops?'
