Originally one of a class of six ships, the 'Manxman' Class minelayer HMS APOLLO was built by Hawthorn Leslie at Hebburn and completed in 1944. She survived the war and remained in commission until 1962 when broken up at Blyth.

Looking for some help and advice. I have been given some WWII medals as a gift (was bought in local antiques shop), I'm ex-RN and would like to return them to the family.

Sailor is ex-HMS Apollo and have service number. Cannot obtain information as not NOK and chances are he may not have passed for over 25 years, current requirement.

Does anyone know if they is a HMS Apollo society / association for the minelayer from WWII (Not the for later one F70).

Thank you for any help given,
