Is there a name for that curiously shaped stern, complete with anchor?
No idea - even the two lads down aft are looking at it as though they think it's weird.

After mentioning the ship's participation in the Cod Wars, it's only fair to say that she also contributed to the rescue of many British fishermen and trawlers.

It looks like a canoe stern, designed to ease steering and prevent broaching to in following seas, which in Icelandic waters can be a problem. Assume the stern anchors are to use in addition to a forward anchor in narrow rivers where there would not be room to swing. Ships in the St. Lawrence Seaway are also fitted with them.
