Last night on the National Geographic channel I watched the story of the salvage (or attempted salvage) of the Jolly Rubino off the east African coast in 2002. I know it is probably old news to most people on this site but I found it very informative.

It had all the drama of a Wilbur Smith novel with toxic chemicals, helicopter crashes, oil spills and the hull breaking up. Whist the salvage was probably not completely successful there were no lives lost and an ecological disaster was avoided.

These salvage guys certainly earn their money. Does anyone have any idea how much the whole operation cost?
