I am searching for information on the fate of the 1968-built Maihor which was sold in 1978 and renamed Garnet, and on the 1948-built Makalla which was chartered in 1967-68 and then returned to her owners and reverted to Caledonian Coast.

Your contributions will be most welcomed!

Maihar (1968): 1981, December 8th (as Garnet), the ship was in a collision with the tanker Molaventure (Mojo S.A.) in Port Said Roads and both had to be beached. Abandoned semi-submerged; towed out 70 miles and sunk.

Makalla (1948):June 1980 (as Ahmadi Coast), arrived at Cartagena for breaking up by Soc. Indust. de Productos Sidericos.

Let me know if you need any more info on these two and I'll look it up.

All the best,

John/gwzm

Sorry, neither Merchant Fleets - Thos & Jno. Brocklebank (Duncan Haws) nor Ships in Focus - Anchor & Brocklebank Lines ( John Clarkson & Roy Fenton)has that detail. These are the two sources that I have.

All the best,
