1946 Metinda lll is now out of military use her hailing port is Glasgow, my question is what flag did she fly from the jack staff was it the Red Duster, the Union Jack or other I e the Scottish flag can not find which is used any and all help would be great building in 1946 era tassie48

Red Ensign on the mainmast gaff. (Unlikely to be Blue Ensign unless the crew were all RNR personnel.) She might have flown a MI houseflag on the mainmast top. Note, the houseflag light have been flown on a broomstick and then hoisted from the mainmast top. See photo below showing NEPTUNIA with OTS flag on a broomstick. Some companies did this. Not sure why. Some long forgotten tradition. Probably from sailing days to get the flag clear of the rigging.

Found a photo of a beautiful model of first NEPTUNIA (1938) in the original OTS colours. This is in the Greenwich Maritime Museum.
