I was also on the British comet at the time of this accident. I remember that we put nets over the side for the survivors some got hurt trying to get on the ship. The French aircraft carrier took the badly injured off the next day we ended up in Falmouth after dropping the crew from the Ocean Bridge in Corunna in Spain. That was the last time I sailed on a tanker.
I have a friend who was on the OB on that day. 4th engineer David McDonald. I was working in the commercial office of Seabridge at the time on the tragedy. I met David by accident today. If anyone would like to contact him, I am more than happy to assist.
