On the5th February the225 metre bulk career SOLOMON TRADER was loading bauxite at RennellI I stand when Cyclone Omadrove it on to a reef and it is still there slowly leaking oil 75 tonnes f so far 600to go NO BOOMS no barge to remove the balance No owner sightHongKong flagKorean insurer the reef isHeritage listed The government in Honiara can get no help from the mine the ship or the owner Australia to the rescue may be lets hope so

Probably following the example in Pearl Harbour - the Arizona, sunk in 1941.
When I mentioned to the officer beside me that there was a slow, steady stream of HFO coming up to the surface, she replied it was the tears of the dead.

So, I wonder how many tons are still on the bottom at Pearl, just waiting for that first piece of steel to finally give way and let even larger amounts come to the surface?
