In February 1966, the Parthia damaged her rudder in a storm and sent out an SOS. The Sythia, also eastbound, was known to be very close having left New York very soon after the Parthia sailed.
I would like to hear from anyone who was sailing on the Sythia at this time.

Was not on the Sythia but know the story well re the Parthia rudder loss as I joined her in Falmouth where she had been laid up May 1971 and delivered her to Hong Kong ( re named as Staship 1 for her new Australian owners Western Aus Shipping )
During the run to Hong Kong I read some of the log entries of her Atlantic problem > It was said that the QE diverted to the SOS call but was not required . Captains radio to Liverpool later read " Out of beer and Baccy but all in good spirits "
