PIKEBANK eventually changed her name to WESTMAN and is seen here sailing from Liverpool in January of 1991.

Hi Ian
Other very good ship british built at the end of 1970 beginning 1980.
DACEBANK-PIKEBANK-ROACHBANK-RUDDBANK-TENCHBANK and TROUTBANK.
at the end of 2003 result in service only TENCHBANK under cyprus flag
as MULTI TRADER.

Hi Ian, I am looking for any information on the "HAZEL BANK" also photos. Iwas fireman on her from Auckland NZ. to the Islands for phosphate, not one of the best trips she was built for 12 fires but only had 8 big nomans- land inbetween,we ran out of coal and had to call into Lytteton to bunker. Regards to All Kenneth

Hazlebank ex Empire Franklin built 1941 by J Readhead and Sons, South Shields who also built the engines. 432.4 x 56.7 x 34.7. 3 cyl up and downer engine.
registered Glasgow. Code flags GUGH. Owned by Andrew Wier ship; & trading co (Bank Line)

Ruud , the photo shows a fairly modern ship, I am sure a 1941 built vessel would not have looked so modern, perhaps there were 2 Hazlebanks.
PS Have you a photo of ss sheldrake o/no 180609 built 1944 in germany. ?

The picture is of the Hazelbank but it is the ship built in the mid 60's not 1941. This ship was a sister of the Nairnbank (1966) and a number of others built by H&W. I have a foto of the Hazelbank tied up alongside the Nairnbank
in Durban, and as soon as I can work out how to scan it and upload it I will post it.

I was the first mate on the Pikebank; I stood by in Doxfords when all of them were built; 3 at Pallion in the dock, 3 at Deptford on the slip. Ruddbank became the ITF's Global Mariner in their FOC campaign and was sunk in a collision in South America. They were the best ships Bank Line ever built...

Kenneth, I am sure I came across a photo of the Hazelbank in a photo gallery
on this Web Site It looked as though it would have been the era you mentioned.Good hunting. there are so many photos to go through and I am not very computer wise.Sorry if I have got it wrong.
