Dr Jessie Lindsay was a Clan Line surgeon in 1955/1956, and in 1953 a Blue Funnel Line doctor.
It was very unusual to have women ship's doctors (she seems to have been the second, the first was in 1913).
Did anyone here sail with her?
Also, can someone please tell me where the Clan Line archives are now?
Thank you. I need this for a book I am writing about women seafarers' history.

I was cadet on ss AYRSHIRE in 1956/57.
We had a woman doctor, a Joan Faulkner for an Australian voyage. She was Irish, Dublin I think.

In 1978 the first trading loss was made in that business and in 1981 the last of the Clan Ships was sold and the clan Line ceased to exist.
