Flying Scot on SAXONIA

Hello and welcome!

The Flying Scot was lifted onto the SAXONIA in Liverpool by the old floating crane MAMMOTH a 200ton capacity unit really designed for replacing damaged lock gates. She was replaced about 20 years ago I think by the MERSEY MAMMOTH which is still around.

For your modelling, the old MAMMOTH can be seen in various photos on the web including a nice Meccano model made by someone.

many thanks to all who have replied, I flew with coastal command in the 1950s and spent many hours out over the nth atlantic on shipping search-- didn't envy the seafarers when it was winter and rough!!
