On the evening of the 13th September the Thai registered vessel Worada Naree was detained in the Port of London.

The15269 GT bulk carrier was boarded by a port state control officer from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency whilst at anchor, waiting to come into Silvertown to discharge a cargo of sugar.

The port state control officer suspended his inspection after discovering a complete failure of the Safety Management System onboard.

Conditions onboard for the crew were far from satisfactory, with no hot water supply and poor sanitary conditions.

The deck fire main was corroded and fire dampers were found to be inoperative.

The vessel has been given authority to go into port to discharge its cargo, but the ship must then be re-presented to port state control for further inspection.
