Just lovely.... their hulls were sublimely beautiful. I remember some our crew in ST HELENA (I) having GOOD HOPE CASTLE stamps in their discharge books dating from when this pair were put on the St. Helena/Ascension run and had "Saints" among the crew, too. And as portrayed in this photo with the extended superstructure. They could literally have run circles around us. I remember one of Safmarine's "Big Whites" pass us like we were standing still. But they had nothing on this pair for looks.

She held the Northbound record from Cape Town to Southampton. 9 days 12 hours at an Ave speed of 27.6 knots.
