On anglia TV News the title of this vessel was the ''ss Sir david attenborough'' idle question are the letters referring to a SURVEY SHIP and not a Steam Ship??
Plus the main propulsion of this ship is it direct diesel through a gear train to a prop shaft or CP controls, Or a hi-bred diesel electric propulsion???
I am just an old ****** lost by the term ''ss''

The ship has been in and out of Harwich International/Parkeston quay a number of times recently whilst on trials.

I think Harwich International is now the base for the UK Antarctic survey ships; it makes a change for their ships to arrive to or from Ushuaia or Montevideo instead of Hook of Holland!
