Hi- I worked for Stephenson Clarke in 1974-5 as Office Junior then Agency Clerk, and both the Charles H Merz and Sir Johnstone Wright were sold after being laid up at Newcastle Quayside while I was there. One was renamed the Fanis- both went to Greek buyers. I remember they were none too happy because a lot of the items that could be used on other sister CEGB vessels (eg bedding and crockery plus deck and engine spares) were allegedly removed, allegedly between sale and handover- we could not find out the truth of it,but suffice to say Stephenson Clarke were not paid the agency fees due from the new owners!.
