Looking for a photo of SOCONY-VACUUM tanker SS Vacport. It seems she was camera shy as I can't seem to find one.
This from Auk Vissers website ......
VACPORT - 1939 BR

6,774 GRT for Standard Transportation Co., Ltd., Hong Kong 423.3 x 60.2
Tanker built by Howaldtswerke A.G., Hamburg
1940 - Socony-Vacuum Transportation Co., Ltd., London
Broken up at Milford Haven 1953 by T. W. Ward, Ltd., arrived 23.05.1953.

It seems that she was completed just before Germany declared WW2. Is listed in WW2 convoys. No mention in WW2 incidents, but, from an old Lloyds Index, sailed from Hong Kong for Abadan on 16 December 1945, damaged by mine, towed back to Hong Kong. Still there in May 1946. Was eventually repaired and back in service – but was scrapped in 1953 at Milford Haven.

Vacport 167309 Departed from Hull on 10/03/1944 and Discharged in Alexandria on the 16/02/1945. My Grandad James Hardy was a Fireman for the whole year. He said they were sailing in Convoy through the Suez Canal but he once told me
when the Sky lit up, although it was beautiful, it was one of the scariest moments of his life.
