Come on Steve tell us the secret of how the Blue Star boats allways looked so damn clean and smart.....apart from bloody hard work of course. Have come across many of the fleet in different ports and was allways impressed on how good they looked....against ours.

Nonstop chipping, painting and soojee. On the BA flyer's we could work regular 98 hour weeks. Cargo hold preperation outward bound and all over repaint in BA and homeward bound. Two weeks in London and the PLA dockers would ensure we sailed looking like sh#t again.

The Mendoza Star - ex 'Chatham', was the best job I was on. Small and compact she always looked a picture as she plied her trade on the fruit runs from London to Santos and salad runs to the Medi and back.

I was on the 'English Star' for a trip. Paddy Cinco was bosun. She and the old Royal Star always looked a mess.

These 2 veterans are still sailing, as cruise ships. I seen the Danae, ex Port Melbourne? passing Aberdeen a few years ago. Classic cargo ship lines with a heap of human livestock topsides!!
