brianjd recently posted on Gallery some old do***ents of his grandfather, who had served with Salvesons whaling in Antartica in the 1940s. I am not sure if P&W is the right place for this theme but I of one have an appetite for more information, and would like to hear more; particularly the voyage from South Georgia to the UK in the early months of the Battle of the Atlantic. I hope to find others sharing my interest. I was lucky enough to take a cruise a few years ago that spent three days in the waters of the South Shetland Islands. The heart of Shackleton Country. The Mecca of every Briton with some salt water in his veins!

Hello Nick. If you log on the National Archives of Scotland Moving Images there are some clips you can view of whaling but some you have to purchase.
