Every cloud has a silver lining. The air travel problems appear to have created a surge in demand for transatlantic voyages. Berths are being snapped up on the positioning voyages, when the cruise ships that have spent the summer in northern Europe return for the New England / St Lawrence Fall season. Bookings are going very well on the later Mediterranean to Florida voyages and Queen Mary 2 is booked solid.

The cruise ship positioning voyages are usually poorly patronised. Who knows, if the current situation continues, QM2 may get a running mate.

I would love to see a couple of shipping companies start a passenger service across the pond, they would have to have a decent speed about them.
