Vietnamese shipbuilders start making ship for UK partner

The Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Company, subsidiary of the Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (VINASHIN), started building a 53,000 tonne cargo ship for the UK's Graig Shipping Ltd. on Sept. 13.

This is the first among 21 cargo ships to be built under a 400 million USD contract signed between VINASHIN and the UK partner.

The 190m long, 32.26m wide, 17.5m high ship was designed by the Danish Carl Bro Marine. The ship's building process will be directly supervised by Norwegian experts.
