Fort Sandusky

I meant Fort Sandusky. She was in Singapore as part of the Far East Fleet for Indonesian Confrontation when I was there in 1965/66 so by the look of the sea I would guess it would have been in the Far East. We did RAS with her more than once. I think she may have been an ammunition supply vessel at the time and I photographed her with HMAS Vampire alongside port as we approached her starboard side

Gentlemen,
First, I apologise for leaving the answer so long, I'll put it down to the festive season....... (Night)

You are all correct as to the vessel, RFA Fort Sandusky.
We (HMS Tartar) were called to her assistance in the Gulf of Aden where she had lain, for a fair few days, Not Under Command with a complete machinery failure, she was close in shore so we took her in tow for two days, while she made repairs.
Her immediate problem was that she was hove to on a lee shore with a full cargo pf munitions, en-route to Singapore.

Final interesting fact was that we all (ships Company)received a bounty, albeit small and some years later!!
