Never seen a Nazi merchant service flag before but if it is, looks similar to Kriegsmarine without the Iron Cross.

Hamburg Amerika's "Bremen" 1930's and where? Any one's guess, off Hurtigrunten or maybe Heligoland.
Hi I'm not that old! Kriegsmarine etc weren't around when I took this pic!
Maybe the flag is defaced - for a reason.
Cheers,
Alex

My answer refers. Pardon me, I've just piddled my pants with lol.
Have to say the davits are rather modern looking for Bremen but the flag does have that jackboot look to it.
Doctoring national flags Alex? Just not cricket dear boy!
They'd be insulted by the reference to the jackboot!!
Hurtigruten probably has, or may have had, the same defaced ensign.
Cheers,
Alex

One of the Norwegian Coastal Mail Boats from 60,s or 70,s
Hi Gdynia,
Getting warmer, in the month of April 1966.
Not a Norwegian Coastal Mail Boat (Hurtigruten). It is the Norwegian Flag defaced with Crown and POST; so it is a mail ship.
There were two sisters - which?
Cheers,
Alex

Is it the Lofoten by any chance
Hi Gdynia,
It's not Lofoten or any of the Hurtigrutens - they all went north.
This is on Norway's other coast!
Cheers,
Alex

Pole Star or Brand Polaris
Hi Gdynia,
Thanks for trying!
This pic is of the afterdeck of Fred Olsen's "Braemar" in Oslofjord which I took in April 1966.
Braemar and her sister ship Blenheim were beautiful little mailships/passenger ferries which plyed between the Tyne and Oslo from the 1950s with a stop at Kristiansand on the Oslo -Tyne leg.
From memory they were built in Norway but fitted out by John I Thornycroft.
Unfortunately I don't have pics of the ships but hopefully some SN Moderator or member could oblige.
Also from memory, one of the pair was burnt out.
Best regards,
Alex

The probably would Alex and no offense meant.
I was also mislead by what I assumed are deck chairs round the stern and an aerial insulator down to the flagstaff.
Coincidentally I have seen the lovely Braemar and Leda many times off the Tyne in the sixties but never knew that the flag was anything other than the normal Norwegian standard.
Pse post yr pics in gallery if you haven't already done so.
Thanks R651400.
You were right, they are deck chairs and it was warm enough to use them, even though it was April.
Will post the full size and see if it is an aerial insulator.
Best regards,
Alex
