I recently found for sale some old discharge papers in an antique dealers shop that belonged to an old ex seafarer who lived in the same area as I do. I purchased them mainly because I new him and new that he had an interesting life.

The quiz question is:
I sign the RMS Maunganui (No 127810) in Wellington, New Zealand, 9/6/36 and discharged in Wellington, New Zealand 14/9/36. I had been re-engaged. The Captain was a Mr A.T Toten. We sailed on Intercolonial passages and I was paid 8 pound 5 shellings and 8 pence. I received a VG for Character for Conduct, VG for Character for Ability, VG for Character for Sobriety on discharge.

WHAT WAS MY POSITION ON BOARD?

I would have to give it to Barney. His position was called Scullion. A kitchen hand. Ever heard of the position before? I will scan the wage sheet, discharge and post that soon.
