Hi All.
Could anyone help with some information on this collier,SS Dingle, which struck a mine and sunk off Kentish Knock in February 1916.
I believe she was built for the West Hartlepool Steamship Co but was sold to a firm in Sunderland shortly before she sank.Interestingly, apart from the Captain, all the crew hailed from the Newry and Mourne area of the North of Ireland. We will be hosting an event to mark the centenary of the incident next year and would like to gather as much information as possible.
Thanks everyone,
Mick.

Dear Mick
I hope the event went well

My Grandfather was on the Dingle and is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves site as 20 February 1916 but you probably knew that anyway.

Bit late at 10 years plus but just researching myself Did you have any further information

Regards
