Ships Nostalgia banner

Saga's SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE. 16 x 20 oil on panel. This painting was on the go while the ship was still going out on her maiden voyage (cruise). Expecting the vessel would at Falmouth and then heading back to Portsmouth. In my 'imagination' I thought to paint her passing Eddystone.

Back to the 'description'. Finished the painting of Eddystone. About a week later I heard that the ship was delayed and when she passed Eddystone she was some 25 miles away. Even worse, she passed at night! Ah well.

Just saw that new vessel on one of her first cruises. Actually quite nice with these hull and funnel colours, a bit "traditional colour scheme", not that large amount of passengers (although she looks quite large) and home port London with British flag.

Some 56,000 gt. Most ships this size would be around 1,600 pax. Saga's ship carry 999 pax. Almost 500 crew. On the first cruises, because of Covid 19', I believe the pax numbers are only around 500 or 600. Colour traditonal, yes. This is the livery for Saga since 1997... apart for a couple of years with a pale blue funnel. Not popular so they went back to the old colours.
