In 1996 I was in le Havre on board s.s. NORWAY. I heard there was a Brenet exhibition so I went to see the works. The cost of admission of about 5 euros, but I didn't have a single euro in my pocket! I searched to find an ATM and ran from place to place, almost an hour. Got back to the gallery and they were getting ready to close. Made a bit of a fuss and finally say the exhibition. The painting (seen above) was on displace and many of the great Brenet paintings. I also had enough to buy a beautiful book of the works. Good find!

LOL.... I guess it was the Franc, not the Euro. Either way, the guy at the gallery wouldn't take pounds nor dollars. The swine should have let me in for free. I ran for an hour to find an ATM.

The real stunning piece in the show was PASTEUR building at the shipyard... still in all red lead primer. Huge painting.
