Damage to the starboard side of the 14,000 teu container vessel ''MSC Kalina'' after colliding around 0245 hrs. on 11/11/2009 with the 115,577 dwt crude oil tanker ''Aljalaa''.
Singapore’s Maritime and Ports Authority say ''that the collision happened about 3.5km southeast of Pulau Sebarok. ''MSC Kalina'' had departed from Pasir Panjang Terminal laden with containers. The ''Aljalaa'' was transiting the Traffic Separation Scheme in the westbound lane.''
Damage extends above and below the waterline.
MSC Kalina subsequently returned a few days later to the Pasir Panjang Container Terminal for full cargo discharge. Repairs are now taking place at Sembawang Shipyard.
