AMALIA

Fire on the Panamanian cargo ship AMALIA of 2,026 tons, on voyage from Oxeløsund to Basra with a cargo of timber (Pine Whitewood). The master feared for an explosion and decided to beach the ship near Egmond (The Netherlands). 18 crew members were rescued by an helicopter, the remaining three by the lifeboat JOHANNA LOUISA. The fire was extinguished by three Wijsmuller tugs.

The ship sailed for Compania Maritima Gold Fish S.A., Panama. Owners were Nauter Compania Maritima, Piraeus.
