America's Cup

America's Cup

On display at the current holders, The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
ASked if I could see it and told "Certainly Sir, up the stairs, please keep behind the ropes, there's an alarm". I can't imagine, if Sir Ben Ainsley lifts the cup in the next series, receiving such an hospitable welcome at Coews Castle.

Interesting point. Which UK sailing club will he be racing under?

He is an honorary member of the RYS so I assume that he will race under their colours

If a member of RYS he should use the white ensign as well as club burgee on boat. Can’t see them racing with flags though.
Tend to agree about access if the cup did come to the U.K.
Better to put in the Maritime Museum in Greenwich at least it would prevent wearing out the carpet at Cowes.

I fear the cup could be very difficult to see should it be housed by the RYS. He is a member of the Royal Cornwall Sailing Club at Falmouth, and I think a member of his first club Restonguet sailing club also in Falmouth.
I agree that a central location such as Greenwich would be far more suitable for display, after all public support and private business is what has enabled the opportunity to compete, not a restricted access sailing club.
