M/S Atløy was built by Bergen Mekaniske Verksted AS (BMV) and delivered to Fylkesbaatane i Sogn og Fjordane (FSF) in 1931 for traffic within the county of Sogn & Fjordane. For a period she carried passengers between Høyanger and Bergen in winter and then carried tourists between Bergen, Flåm and Gudvangen in summer. The boat was sold in 1974 and used as a yacht, and as a ferry in Åndalsnes. She was bought back to Sogn & Fjordane in 1981, and with the help of a grant she was fully restored by Ankerløkken yard in Florø. She is now owned by the Coastal Museum in Sogn & Fjordane.
