Now I understand why this ship had such a long life span as she got new engines in 1950 by Bremer Vulkan. 58 years with the same engines seems to be almost impossible. I remember that the passenger ship BERLIN ex GRIPSHOLM, completed by Armstrong, Whitworth + Co in 1925 survived 41 years until 1966 with her original engines which was not so easy. She had 2 Burmeister + Wain double acting 4-stroke oil engines at 6.750bhp each giving a speed of some 16 knots. She was famous for the service and comfort, but not for her speed.
