1944-07-02: Final Fate: On voyage from Beira and Durban to England with a cargo of 7,101 tons of foodstuff and 2,512 tons of copper, the ship was torpedoed by the German submarine U 547 west of Monrovia in position 04º14'N en 11º00'W and sank. Six passengers and three crew members lost their lives. Captain Molenaar was arrested and was taken on board the 'U 547' and landed ultimately in a PoW camp in North Germany.
